Hike on this land and soak up its peaceful woods, then look up at layers upon layers of mountains. Watch the sunlight dapple the trees, playing off an impressive diversity of hardwoods including oak, poplar, dogwood, sourwood, sassafras, mountain laurel and rhododendron. Wildflowers which grow here profusely include plants such as lady slippers, trillium, flame azalea, blue berry and native hydrangea. Listen for two creeks that flow down the mountain; watch for evidence of underground springs.
Wildlife also calls this mountain home. Catch glimpses of turkey, hawk, and other birds. Appreciate the fact that bear, deer, fox, raccoons, squirrels and other mammals share this space.
Enjoy the cool fresh mountain breezes, watch the mist burn away to reveal mountain layers, and take time to watch sunsets turn the sky into deep reds and purples leaving the mountains pink in the afterglow.
